AUBURN, Alabama — The Jacksonville State Gamecocks wanted to shock the world Saturday, and boy did they come close.

 

The Gamecocks, members of the Ohio Valley Conference, led Auburn 20-13 on the road with less than two minutes to play Saturday. But with the game on the line, JSU gave up a late score in regulation and ultimately lost in overtime, 27-20.

 

“We didn’t come in here with the mindset to play with them or keep it close,” said Jacksonville State defensive end Chris Landrum, who started his career at Auburn. “We wanted to win. Our whole team came in the game (thinking) we can win this ball game. We said it all week.”
