2017 In A Sentence: The Aggies began the season at 5-2 but a 2-3 regular season finish resulting in the firing of Coach Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M lost the Belk Bowl to Wake Forest after his firing t finish with a 7-6 overall mark.

Biggest Shoes to Fill: WRs Christian Kirk and Damion Ratley were two pass catchers that were drafted in the NFL Draft (Kirk in 2nd round to the Arizona Cardinals & Ratley in the 6th round to the Cleveland Browns). Kirk totaled 2,865 yards and 26 scores in his Aggie career, while Ratley was a little of a late bloomer but averaged an impressive 23.1 yards per catch and finished with 694 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Key Player: RB Trayveon Williams took a bit of the sophomore slump last year in rushing for 798 yards after rushing for over 1,000 in his freshman season (the first Aggie to ever to accomplish that feat). He did play a little banged up last year and will need to produce more like the 2016 season, especially given the passing game will be of little experience.

Fearless Prediction: Coach Jimbo Fisher comes to the Aggies after leaving Florida State and optimism for Texas A&M to produce similar results he had at FSU is sky high. But given the change of offenses (to more of pro-style), the optimism may be a year away from happening. But with the hiring of former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Mike Elko, the Aggie defense very well could improve. If that happens, it is not out-of-the question to improve on last year’s seven win total.
