COOKEVILLE, TN. — It may have been the first Division I Football postseason game for Central Arkansas, but the Bears looked anything like newcomers in a 34-14 thrashing of Tennessee Tech Saturday at Tucker Stadium.

Led by the play of quarterback Nathan Dick on offense and a stingy defense, UCA rolled to an easy victory in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Dick completed 23-of-29 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns on a day where the Bears churned out 439 yards of total offense.

RICHMOND, KY. — You couldn't blame place kicker Cameron Starke and his James Madison teammates for thinking they were experiencing a Deja Vu moment at the end of Saturday's NCAA Division I Football first-round playoff game at Eastern Kentucky.

Starke had drilled a 40-yard field goal — just his second career three-pointer — on the final play of the game to lift the Dukes to a 27-24 victory at Liberty in the third week of the season. And on Saturday, he found himself in a similar setting with higher stakes.

After a pair of EKU time outs to try to ice the redshirt sophomore, Starke boomed a 35-yard field goal from the left hash as time expired to lift JMU to a 20-17 victory in a game that featured two former NCAA champions at Roy Kidd Stadium.

NORFOLK, VA. — For a brief moment, the loud voices in Old Dominion's vociferous crowd were silent.

In the first two minutes of the game, Norfolk State senior quarterback Chris Walley got loose from the Monarchs' pass rush up the middle, unloaded a rocket to wideout Derrick Demps, and - after two Monarch defensive backs ran squarely into each other — Norfolk State took a 7-0 lead on its crosstown opponent.

It would prove to be one of the few memorable moment for the Spartans, however, as the Monarchs quickly regrouped and scored the next 35 points en route to a 35-18 victory.

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — When you know a coach as well as Stony Brook's Chuck Priore knows his personal mentor, Albany's Bob Ford, it's like finishing sentences for your wife.

So when Albany faced a second and goal from the three with 54 seconds left and an NCAA Division I Football first-round playoff game hanging in the balance, the Stony Brook coach knew what to expect.

Priore also could count on two of his defenders, cornerback Donald Porter and free safety Dominick Reyes to do their jobs, with Porter tipping a pass intended for tight end Paul Booker and Reyes catching the ball and staying in-bounds on the end line to preserve a 31-28 victory for the Seawolves before a record football crowd of 8,286 at LaValle Stadium.
