Villanova 16, Stony Brook 13

STONY BROOK, N.Y.—Sophomore wide receiver Rayjoun Pringle (Dumfries, Va.) had a breakout game in the spring season opener and No. 5 Villanova (1-0, 1-0 CAA Football) returned to action for the first time in 461 days with a 16-13 win over Stony Brook (0-1, 0-1) at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Pringle hauled in eight receptions for a career-high 133 yards and a touchdown in the victory.

Senior quarterback Daniel Smith (Leesburg, Va.) displayed the same form under center that saw him throw for 3,274 yards during the 2019 season when he made his Wildcats debut.
