Alcorn State, Tennessee State Split Votes Again In HBCU Polls

PHILADELPHIA, PA. — In a week when only two top-10 teams fell, Alcorn State remained No. 1 in the BOXTOROW coaches poll.
Tennessee State fell to FCS No. 1 Jacksonville State and fell from No. 1 to No. 4 in the BOXTOROW media poll.
North Carolina A&T with its 14-7 victory over Elon is now No. 1 with the media.
In the coaches poll last week, five teams received at least one first-place vote with Alcorn receiving the most with eight.
The Braves had full support this week as they claimed all but one of the 17 first-place votes.
North Carolina A&T remained No. 2 while South Carolina State claimed the other first-place vote and climbed up two spots to No. 3. Southern also moved up two spots and is No. 4, while Bethune-Cookman climbed one spot and rounds out the top five.
In the media poll where N.C. A&T and Tennessee State both received seven first-place votes last week, the Aggies received eight votes this week, four more than No. 3 Alcorn State. No. 2 South Carolina State received two first-place votes and despite its loss, Tennessee State received two first-place votes and is No. 4.
Southern made the most significant jump, up three spots and rounds out the top five.
