College Sports Journal Sagarin Mid-Major Men’s Basketball Top 25 – Jan. 30
Below are the Top 25 Mid-Major rankings based on the Sagarin rankings for the week ending Jan. 30th, 2022.
Belmont stays in the top position this week. The Bruins defeated its two Ohio Valley opponents in Austin Peay and Tennessee-Martin this past week.
Current OVC rival Murray State stays at the #2 spot. The Racers actually had three games this week and won all three OVC contests. MSU defeated Tennessee Tech twice as well as Morehead State.
South Dakota State stays at the third position this week as the Jackrabbits stayed undefeated in Summit League play with two wins. SDSU defeated North Dakota and North Dakota State at home this past week.
Chattanooga stays at the #4 spot in this poll. The Mocs had two Southern Conference wins over Wofford and The Citadel this past week.
Toledo stays at the #5 spot this week. The Rockets had MAC wins over Buffalo and Akron this past week.
The Mid-Major conferences include America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic conferences.
Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the Mid-Major side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.
In the rankings, you will see the the Mid-Major rankings first and the overall Division I ranking to the right of the the Mid-Major ranking.
