NDSU Still On Top As CSJ Releases Third Week FCS Top-25

Youngstown State vs. Pitt, 9/1/2012

College Sports Journal Release

PHILADELPHIA, PA.  — North Dakota State may have had a bye last weekend, but the Bison stayed on top of the College Sports Journal Football Championship Subdivision Top-25 for the third week of the season, again in unanimous fashion.

Sam Houston State stayed at No. 2, despite a hard-fought 48-23 loss to Baylor — a game that the Bearkats trailed 24-23 with under 11 minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Youngstown State moved from No. 7 to No. 3 with a tight 31-24 victory at home against Albany and Montana State remained at No. 4 with its 43-35 shootout win over Stephen F. Austin at home.

The biggest move in the poll was from The Citadel, which jumped from tied for 25th to No. 5 after knocking off previously third-ranked Appalachian State 52-28 at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, N.C.

ASU fell to No. 16 with its second loss of the season.

The Citadel, which is ranked at its highest spot in any poll since being the No. 1 team in the nation at the end of the 1992 regular season, beat then-No. 2 Georgia Southern 23-21 the previous week.

Cal Poly made its first appearance in the College Sports Journal poll at No. 23 after a 24-22 FBS victory at Wyoming.
