College Sports Journal Sagarin FCS Top 25 – Oct. 29
Below are the Top 25 rankings based on the Sagarin rankings for the week ending October 29th, 2022. CSJ will show weekly rankings from the Sagarin rankings throughout the season and will have a final ranking after the national championship game in January.
South Dakota State moves up a spot to the top position after its easy win over home win over Indiana State. Sacramento State moved down one to the #2 position despite defeating Big Sky rival Idaho at home. North Dakota State stays at the #3 position after its home win over Illinois State. Weber State stays at the #4 spot after defeating Montana at home in Big Sky play. Montana, meanwhile stays at the #5 spot despite that loss.
Please note that FBS transitioning teams of Sam Houston and Jacksonville State will be a part of the FCS Sagarin rankings this year, while James Madison will be with the Group of Five rankings. This is due to the conference that each play in. Sam Houston and Jacksonville State will remain members of a FCS conference this fall, while James Madison is part of a FBS conference.
Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the FCS side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.

In the rankings, you will see the the FCS rankings first and the overall Division I ranking to the right of the the FCS ranking.
The numbers show the ranking in the FCS Top 25 as well as the overall Division I ranking.
The Top 10 and Top 30 are the overall Division I Sagarin rankings.
