College Sports Journal Sagarin Group of Five Top 25–FINAL 2020

Below are the Final 2020 Top 25 FBS Group of Five (G5) rankings based on the Sagarin rankings after all postseason games have been completed in Division I play. These rankings include all FBS Bowl games and the College Football Playoff.

BYU takes over the top spot in the final rankings following its impressive Boca Raton Bowl win over UCF. Cincinnati falls from the top spot after its narrow loss in the Peach Bowl to Georgia. Buffalo moves up to the third spot following its impressive Camellia Bowl win over Marshall.

Along with Cincinnati, San Jose State and Coastal Carolina were the undefeated teams going into bowl season. Like Cincinnati, both SJSU and Coastal also lost their bowl games. San Jose State lost to Ball State in the Arizona Bowl, while Coastal Carolina lost to Liberty in the Cure Bowl.

All G5 schools with the exception Old Dominion, New Mexico State, and Connecticut are eligible for this poll. Those schools did not play this fall due to COVID-19.

Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the FBS G5 side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.
