College Sports Journal Sagarin Mid-Major Men’s Basketball Top 25 – Nov. 29

Below are the Top 25 Mid-Major rankings based on the Sagarin rankings for the week ending Nov. 29th, 2020. New Mexico State stays atop the rankings this week despite not playing a Division I opponent as of yet. The Aggies did open their season with a close victory at NAIA Arizona Christian.

Two Southern Conference teams in Furman and North Carolina-Greensboro are second and third respectively in this week’s rankings. Both have started their seasons with one win each over Division I teams. Furman defeated South Carolina Upstate and also defeated Division II Tusculum to start their season, while UNC-Greensboro picked up a single win over Little Rock in the opening week of the season.

The Mid-Major conferences include America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic conferences.

Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the Mid-Major side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.
