FBS G5 Week 12 Recap and Highlights

Fresno State captures the West Division of the Mountain West Conference with its 13-7 win at Wyoming.

This week’s game of the week pitting #13 Fresno State at #14 Wyoming and it finished in a close final but was a little bit of downer as Wyoming star quarterback Josh Allen was sidelined with a shoulder injury. Fresno State won the game and wrapped up not only its fate in the Mountain West championship game but also set-up its opponent in Boise State, who was also a Top 25 winner over Air Force this week.

The other CSJ Sagarin Top 25 match-ups saw #1 ranked UCF soundly defeat #21 Temple on the road, #12 Northern Illinois narrowly escaped at home over #18 Western Michigan, and #3 Memphis outscored #15 SMU.

As mentioned, the Mountain West championship match-up is set (although setting could still be in play as the higher ranked squad gets the home field). Other conferences in the Group of Five also are getting championship game bids.

The Conference USA has wrapped up its two division champions with Florida Atlantic and North Texas. Florida Atlantic will host this game on Dec. 2–the date for all FBS championship games within the Group of Five.

The MAC and American still have both sides of the lager still yet to be decided. Also note that the Sun Belt does not have a championship game in its league but its league champion is also not yet crowned.
