Two enormous conference games loom this week, including one of the better Patriot League rivalry games in Lehigh at Colgate. Holy Cross at Bucknell also kicks off league play for both teams.
Lehigh (1-2) at Colgate (0-5), Saturday October 5th, 1:00 PM, Andy Kerr Stadium, Hamilton, NY, Stadium, Stadium Live Stream
You can read a full preview here and a game breakdown here. To say both teams need to get on the right foot in league play is an understatement. Defense should be the word of the day, and it should come down to the wire Lehigh 19, Colgate 17
Fordham (2-3) at Yale (2-0), Saturday October 5th, 1:00 PM, Yale Bowl, new Haven, CT, NESN+, ESPN+ (subscription req’d)
Is Fordham back? After a head-turning upset of Richmond last week, the Rams head to Yale with a big head of steam. The Bulldogs have done just enough to support strong defensive efforts to defeat Holy Cross and Cornell, but the Rams might surprise people here unless Yale gets things going on offense. Yale 24, Fordham 21
Holy Cross (1-3) at Bucknell (0-4), Saturday October 5th, 2:00 PM, Christy Matthewson Stadium, Lewisburg, PA, Patriot League Network
Holy Cross’ 1-3 record is deceiving, as two of their losses were to FBS teams. They’ll have plenty to beat rebuilding Bucknell. Holy Cross 24, Bucknell 10
Georgetown (3-1) at Cornell (1-1), Saturday Octoner 5th, 3:00 PM, Schoellkopf Field, Ithaca, NY, ESPN+ (subscription req’d)
You usually don’t want to use the transitive property when picking football games, but Cornell’s 21-7 win over Marist and Georgetown’s 43-3 win over Marist seems pretty instructive here. Georgetown 26, Cornell 10
