Below are the Top 25 Mid-Major rankings based on the Sagarin rankings for the week ending Feb. 20th, 2022.
Murray State moves up a spot this week to take over the the top position. The Racers defeated its two Ohio Valley opponents in Austin Peay and Tennessee-Martin this past week.
Current OVC rival Belmont moves down a spot to the #2 spot. The Bruins move down despite defeating Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville in OVC play this past week. Belmont visits Murray State later this upcoming week in what might be the Mid-Major game of the year.
South Dakota State moves up a spot to the #3 position this week. The Jackrabbits remain undefeated in Summit League play after defeating Western Illinois and St. Thomas in league play this past week.
New Mexico State moves up to the fourth position this week. The Aggies defeated Dixie State and Grand Canyon in WAC play this past week.
Toledo moves down to the #5 spot in this poll this week. The Rockets split its two MAC contests this past week–losing to Kent State and then rebounded to defeat Central Michigan.
The Mid-Major conferences include America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic conferences.
Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the Mid-Major side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.
In the rankings, you will see the the Mid-Major rankings first and the overall Division I ranking to the right of the the Mid-Major ranking.

Originally from LaMoure, North Dakota, Kent is a 1996 graduate of North Dakota State University.
