2017 In A Sentence: After the ecstasy that was St. Francis (PA)’s 2016’s NEC championship and FCS playoff year, a more agonizing, uneven 2017 ended with a 5-6 record – even though the Red Flash did take down Liberty, 13-7.
Biggest Shoes to Fill: LB Zane Stewart, a three-year letterman, had 55 tackles and 10 tackles for loss last season, leading the team in that statistic.
Key Player: 6’4, 195 lb WR Kamron Lewis had 65 catches for 909 yards and six TDs last season, making him the most reliable weapon the St. Francis (PA) offense had last year. His height and speed poses matchup problems that head coach Chris Villareal will be aiming to exploit early and often this season.
Fearless Prediction: St Francis (PA)’s schedule is an interesting mixture of play-up games, a Division II school, and a relatively easy early schedule before getting to the meat of the NEC schedule. Hosting Bryant and Central Connecticut State could be a huge help to their NEC title chances.
