College Sports Journal Sagarin Mid-Major Men’s Basketball Top 25 – Feb. 6

Below are the Top 25 Mid-Major rankings based on the Sagarin rankings for the week ending Feb. 6th, 2022.

Belmont stays in the top position this week. The Bruins defeated its two Ohio Valley opponents in Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State this past week.

Current OVC rival Murray State stays at the #2 spot. The Racers defeated Austin Peay and SIU Edwardsville in OVC play this past week.

South Dakota State stays at the third position this week as the Jackrabbits stayed undefeated in Summit League play with just one league game this week SDSU defeated rival South Dakota on the road for its lone game this week.

Toledo moves up a spot to the #4 position this week. The Rockets move up despite a loss at MAC rival Ball State. Toledo earlier in the week, however, defeated another MAC squad in Eastern Michigan.

Chattanooga moves down a position to the #5 spot in this poll. The Mocs started this past week with a loss at Southern Conference rival Samford but rebounded later in the week to defeat Mercer at home.

The Mid-Major conferences include America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, and Western Athletic conferences.

Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the Mid-Major side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.

In the rankings, you will see the the Mid-Major rankings first and the overall Division I ranking to the right of the the Mid-Major ranking.
