Highlights: CSJ FBS Group of Five Top Five Games of Week 3

Courtesy of Steve Griffin, Deseret News BYU head coach Kalani Sitake leaps into the air as he celebrates with Brigham Young Cougars defensive back Austin Lee as a Wisconsin field goal sailed wide, giving the Cougars the victory at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, to give BYU the 24-21 victory.

Wow, what a Week 3 for the Group of Five. Of course the top highlight was BYU’s 24-21 upset over AP #6 Wisconsin. But San Diego State also beat a AP Top 25 team in #23 Arizona State 28-21.

North Texas throttled Arkansas, while Akron and Temple defeated two Big 10 foes on the road.

In total, there was nine G5 teams that beat their Power 5 opponents this week so picking just five games this week was very tough. But I narrowed it down to my my Top 5 and added the other four games as bonuses.

The Big 10 was the big G5 upset culprit as it had five of the nine wins for the G5.

In addition, there were a three G5 versus G5 games that caught my attention including Army West Point defeating previously undefeated Hawai’i and a MAC opener between two previous 2-0 squads in Buffalo defeating Eastern Michigan and Arkansas State winning at Tulsa. So there are a multiple more bonus picks as well.
