2017 In A Sentence: The Bruins went 6-6 in the regular season, which led to the firing of Coach Jim Mora before UCLA would play in the Cactus Bowl where Bruins lost to Kansas State.

Biggest Shoes to Fill: QB Josh Rosen had a 2017 season total f 3,756 yards yards passing, breaking Brett Hundley’s single season school record of 3,740 in 2012. In his three years as the UCLA starter, he threw for 9,341 and 59 touchdowns. Rosen was drafted in the first round with the tenth overall pick in the NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals.

Key Player: LB Jaelen Phillips, along with CB Darnay Holmes became the first pair of true freshman Bruins to start a season-opener last year to give an idea of the youth of the team. Phillips’ total of 7.0 tackles for loss ranked fourth on the team and with the team moving to a 3-4 alignment the talent on this team might give opposing offenses havoc.

Fearless Prediction: With former Oregon and NFL coach Chip Kelly coming to UCLA, the optimism is high that he can lead the Bruins to similar results he had with the Ducks. But this year will likely be a rebuilding year especially on offense. The team might be best to just get to bowl eligibility,
