2018 In A Sentence: At homecoming, the Delta Devils outlasted Arkansas-Pine Bluff in two overtimes, 48-47. It was the lone bright spot in an otherwise dismal inaugural season for new head coach Vincent Dancy, as MVSU went 1-10.

Biggest Shoes to Fill: 6’1, 304 lb DE Bryant Jones leaves a very large gap in the Delta Devils defensive line next year. He had 56 tackles and 5 TFL.

Key Player: Dancy didn’t field a steady starter at QB, but it seemed like the guy who provided the most spark for the Delta Devils was all-purpose QB Dejerric Bryant, who led the team in rushing (389 net yards) and added 4 passing TDs as well. If the Dejerric Bryant that emerged in the Arkansas-Pine Bluff game shows up more often, MVSU should be in position to win more games.

Fearless Prediction: With homecoming against outmanned Virginia University-Lynchburg of the USCAA, it looks like the Delta Devils will win on homecoming again. Though a four-game stretch at home could generate an opportunity for an upset, unless MVSU’s offense gets more on track, another 1-10 season could be in the offing.
