College Sports Journal Sagarin FBS G5 Top 25 – FINAL 2021

Below are the Final 2021 Top 25 FBS Group of Five (G5) rankings based on the Sagarin rankings after all postseason games have been completed in Division I play. These rankings include all FBS Bowl games and the College Football Playoff.

Cincinnati stays at the top spot despite losing to Alabama in the College Football Playoff semifinal match in the Cotton Bowl. Boise State stays at the #2 spot after having its bowl game (Arizona Bowl) canceled due to COVID-19 reasons within the Bronco program. BYU ends at the #3 spot also despite losing its bowl game to UAB in the Independence Bowl.

Houston ends at the #4 spot as the highest placed bowl winner after defeating Auburn in the Birmingham Bowl. Louisiana ends at the #5 spot after defeating Marshall in the New Orleans Bowl to round out the top five spots.

Sagarin rankings provide the only rankings that actually ranks all Division I schools but our rankings will show just the FBS G5 side of things and have been used for several years with his own computer ranking system to distinguish strength of schedule and strength of team when comparing teams.

The following are the individual G5 conference rankings highlighted in yellow and the overall rankings within overall ranking in Division I FBS.
