BOXTOROW Polls: Marquee Game Causes Shifts in HBCU Football Polls; 11/5/2019
The North Carolina A&T Aggies win over South Carolina State in the marquee game of the weekend caused slight shifts in both the BOXTOROW Coaches and Media Polls. Florida A&M defeated Delaware State and remained No. 1.
In the coaches poll, idle Alcorn State and A&T remained No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. No. 4 Bethune-Cookman and No. 5 Southern, coming off its win over Alabama A&M, each moved up one spot, while SCSU dropped two spots to No. 6. Jackson State, currently on a three-game winning streak including Saturday’s victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, moved into the poll at No. 10 with UAPB dropping out.
In the media poll, the top four spots remained the same, occupied by Florida A&M, Alcorn State, N.C. A&T and Bowie State, who remains undefeated. Virginia Union reentered the poll at No. 10, while Savannah State made its first appearance ever, debuting tied for No. 8 (Virginia State). The Tigers defeated Fort Valley State and have wrapped up the SIAC Eastern Division.
The BOXTOROW HBCU FCS coaches poll and media poll is administered by FROM THE PRESS BOX TO PRESS ROW. The coaches poll, in its 11th year is voted on by the HBCU Football Championship Subdivision coaches and the media poll, in its 13th year, is voted on by media members around the country who cover HBCU football.
