Missouri Valley Football Conference Week 1 Review

The Missouri Valley went a somewhat disappointing 1-8 in the opening week with North Dakota State picking up the loan victory. South Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Indiana State, and Illinois State all lost to FBS foes. Southern Illinois, South Dakota, and Missouri State lost to fellow FCS opponents. 2019 NCAA Division I College Football Team Previews: Maine Black Bears

Maine was the biggest surprise of the 2018 FCS season. The Black Bears entered the season projected to finish 8th in the CAA and went out and won the league outright. Maine reached the semifinals of the FCS playoffs before falling to eventual national runner-up Eastern Washington. The Black Bears also picked up a win over an FCS foe with a 31-28 victory over Western Kentucky.
